The Australian
Writers’ Guild is the professional association for Australian
performance writers including film, television, theatre, radio and
digital media.
The Australian Society of Authors
The Australian
Society of Authors is the peak professional association for Australia's
literary creators. Our members are biographers, illustrators,
academics, cartoonists, scientists, food and wine writers, children’s
writers, ghost writers, librettists, travel writers, romance writers,
translators, computer programmers, journalists, poets and novelists.
Australian
& NZ Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators
The
SCBWI is a professional organisation that acts as a network for
children's authors, illustrators, editors and publishers. There are over
22,000 members in more than 70 regions worldwide.
The South
Australian Writers' Centre
Located in Adelaide, we are a
non-profit organisation providing resources and support for South
Australian writers of all ages.
The Queensland Writers
Centre
Known to our members as QWC, we encourage networking,
connection, and creativity through the art and business of writing. We
provide knowledge, networks, skills and professional development
opportunities to QWC members and Queensland writers, and work to service
diverse audiences, including regional and indigenous writers.
The NSW
Writers' Centre
The NSW Writers' Centre was established as an
incorporated association in May 1991 to promote writing-based culture
and the rights and interests of writers. The Centre offers literary
resources and professional information to established and aspiring
writers of all kinds. It provides a spacious venue for events such as
book launches, readings, literary evenings and lectures as well as
meeting spaces for writers' groups and literary organisations.
The ACT Writers
Centre
The ACT Writers Centre is a non-profit association
dedicated to helping ACT region writers achieve their full potential by
providing targeted services and opportunities.
The
Victorian Writers' Centre
The Victorian Writers' Centre is a
not-for-profit organisation that assists writers through the various
stages of their development. We provide high-quality information and
professional development services for aspiring and established writers,
with special benefits for members of the organisation.
The
Western Australian Writers Centre
The Western Australian Writers
Centre (WAWC), originally known as Western Writers, offers a coordinated
range of writing activities in three convenient geographic locations
throughout the metropolitan area: Greenmount, Joondalup and Swanbourne.
The member groups of the WAWC are KSP, PCWC and FAWWA.
The Northern
Territory Writers' Centre
The NT Writers' Centre has 350 members
throughout the Northern Territory, who range from hobby writers to
published authors. Whatever your writing interests or experience, the
NT Writers' Centre can offer you advice and point you in the right
direction. We can also assist members to set up writing projects in
their communities.
The
Tasmanian Writers' Centre
The Tasmanian Writers' Centre was
incorporated in 1998 and grew out of an already strong literary
community who realised the benefits a professional organisation could
offer writers and readers in the state. For its ten-year history the
Centre has been housed in The Salamanca Arts Centre on Hobart's
waterfront. Arts Tasmania and the Australia Council have provided core
support to enable the Centre to secure its infrastructure and program.
Workshops and seminars, writing resources and library, employment
opportunities, manuscript assessment services, readings and events have
enabled the centre to attract a membership of 360 statewide.
The New England
Writers' Centre
The New England Writers' Centre brings the best
writers to the New England region in northern New South Wales for
readings, forums and workshops. The Centre is located in Armidale but
serves the whole of the New England region extending from Wee Waa in the
west to Bellingen in the east, and from Tamworth in the south to
Tenterfield in the north.
The Gold
Coast Writers Association
The Gold Coast Writers Association
(GCWA) encourages and supports writers from all genres, age groups and
levels of writing to grow, learn and excel in their craft.
The Society
of Women Writers NSW
Inc.
The Society of Women Writers NSW Inc., established in 1925
and incorporated in 1987, is the longest-standing literary society in
Australia. It aims to enable women writers in all genres to meet and
network, and to benefit from regular seminars and workshops. It also
aims to encourage aspiring writers to achieve professional status. In
addition to monthly workshops and luncheon meetings, the Society
administers a number of Awards and Competitions, as well as issues an
informative bi-monthly Newsletter to its members.
The
Society of Womens Writers WA
We are a Perth based writing
organisation offering support, encouragement and information to women
writers throughout Western Australia.
The
Society of Womens Writers VIC
The main aim of SWWV is to draw
together women who write and to provide them with information and
support. We do this by the regular conduct of: presentations by
experienced writers, workshops, poetry and prose readings, seminars,
conferences, book launches and literary competitions.
The
Australian Poetry Centre
The Australian Poetry Centre aims to
strengthen the presence and profile of Australian poetry within
Australia and overseas; and promote the writing, reading, and
appreciation of poetry as an integral part of personal and community
life.

illustrated by Australians, are vital to the well-being, creativity and
literacy of our children.
Centre for Youth Literature
The Centre for Youth Literature promotes reading. It offers exciting and affordable book events for young people and professionals. Teenagers and children meet great writers and talented young actors - bringing reading to life. Professional learning programs and the biennial Reading Matters conference keep adults in touch with crucial issues and ideas in youth literature.
Fremantle Children's Literature Centre Inc.
The Fremantle Children's Literature Centre aims to make literature more accessible in a rich, happy, stimulating environment and provide a focus for all those interested in children's literature, bringing together students, teachers, parents, authors, illustrators and specialists in the field.
